ABSTRACT

We have developed a problem-solving-based learning model for Physics. This model was developed by using R & D method covering 4-D steps, i.e., define, design, develop and disseminate. The problem-solving-based learning model, which has been proved to be successful to develop learning phases, including: first, orienting students on the problem; second, organizing students for the study; third, guiding investigation both individually and group, next, developing and presenting the results of the research; and finally, reflecting and reinforcing. The participants of the research comprised 25 physics education students at one of the universities in Medan in the 2010/2011 academic year. The design of the research was Pre-experimental with one group pretest-posttest design. The data of students’ metacognitive ability were collected by means of an essay test while the data of conceptual understanding were collected by using multiple-choice tests. The data were then analyzed using normalized gain scores, . The findings of the research show that: problem-solving -based learning model can be used to enhance the students’ metacognitive ability and conceptual understanding of particle dynamics topic in middle category.

ABSTRACT


This study investigated the predictive value of the Spok Tuah-Arahan Diri (STAD) for SMA students. In general, the findings of the study show that STAD has predictive value sufficient to predict the student’s success on some departments of studies, that is, on Natural Sciences Departments (IPA), Social Sciences Department (IPS), and Language Department. The STAD’s effective contribution on the student achievement is different within each student group. High correlation between those variables significantly occurred. Further discussion about the research findings is presented in this article.

ABSTRACT
This research is about speech act of command on a dialogue in Laskar Pelangi film and its implications on the teaching of Bahasa Indonesia at SMP. A descriptive qualitative method was used in the study.
The findings of the research show that there are two types of speech act of commands, that is, direct and indirect. Direct commands comprise: (1) usual commands indicated by basic verbs; (2) request commands identified by command identifiers: cobe (coba) meaning ‘try’, nak (mau) meaning ‘want’, mohon meaning ‘request’, suffixes –kan and –lah; (3) invitation commands known by the use of command identifiers: ayo meaning ‘come on’, ayolah meaning ‘come on’ and yuk meaning ‘let us’; (4) ordering commands marked by the command identifier biar meaning ‘so that’; (5) compelling commands indicated by command markers: cepat meaning ‘quick’ and harus meaning ‘have to’; Finally (6) prohibition commands known by command markers: jangan meaning ‘don’t’, ndak usah meaning ‘not necessary’, ndak boleh meaning ‘not allowed’, ndak kurang meaning ‘not less than’, and janganlah meaning ‘don’t’.
By contrast, indirect commands consist of the following modes: questioning; asking mode; rejecting; advising; expressing facts; involving other people; and praising.
The types of context used are: temporal; situational; spatial; and surrounding people available

ABSTRACT

This study was intended to meet the need for reforms in improving the teachers’ creativity to teach and manage a classroom learning process. It was based on the responses to the students’ weakening learning quality. This study used a qualitative approach to obtain the data. The data obtained from three cycles of classroom action research were then analyzed. To increase the students’ activities and achievements, GI cooperative learning model was implemented in three cycles. The conclusion in the first cycle was that most students were unfamiliar with the condition of GI cooperative learning model. Therefore, the teachers need to train the students to understand the learning principles of GI cooperative learning model and need to be more careful in allocating their time so that students are more serious. In the second cycle, the students began to be familiar with cooperative learning. Meanwhile, the results of students’ daily tests also increased from 65.625% to 71.875% in the second cycle and to 81.25% in the third cycle. In the third cycle, the researchers tried to integrate a model of cooperative learning and outdoor GI cooperative learning model so that the students were able to use the material taught. The conclusion was that the model of cooperative learning can be used to enhance the students’ activities and achievement through GI cooperative learning model in X3 Class Senior High School 9 Bandar Lampung.

ABSTRACT
The problem of the research entitled “Nationalism Value in Indonesian Language Electronic School Book for Low Class at Primary School and its Syllabus Development”. Was how to implement nasionalism values in the future through Indonesian Language Electronic Book for early classes at primary school.
Nasionalism value is a basic consideration to determine the best attitude and behaviour for Indonesian nation to represent his activity in feeling of love or proud of homeland and nation based on principle of community, unity and cohesion, and democracy by doing and developing daily attitudes and behaviours.
The research problems in this study were: Which nasionalism value is involved in Indonesian Language Electronic School Book for Early Class at Primary School? What is the most dominant nasionalism value in Indonesian Electronic School Book for Early Class at Primary School? what kind of development in Indonesian syllabus is approriate for the nasionalism value?
This aim of the research was to describe nasionalism value in Indonesian Language Electronic School Book for Early Class at Primary School, the most dominant nasionalism value in Indonesian Language Electronic School Book for Early Class at Primary School and development Indonesian Language syllabus is approriate with nasionalism value.

ABSTRACT

The objectives of the research are: ( 1) to describe the students’ ability of grammatical structure before and after learning by using word-and-sentence game technique; ( 2) to identify the effectiveness of the use of word-and-sentence game technique to make the student easy in mastering grammatical structure of French; and (3) to determine the effectiveness of word-and-sentence game technique in improving the mastery of grammatical structure. The research method used is sham experiment method (quasi experiment) by using only one group. The population is Débutant class, 2010/2011 academic year, and the sample comprised of 16 students, selected randomly.
The results of the data analysis showed that the mean of pre-tests was 14,31 and that of the post-test was 18,75. Based on the T-test calculation, it was found that t-observed is equal to 7,77 at the significance level 0.01 by db = 15, whereas the t-tab is 3,73. This means to is bigger than ttab therefore the H1 was accepted.
The findings of the research show that word-and-sentence game technique can be used to help the students master grammatical structure of French easily. Furthermore, it was also found that the word-and-sentence game technique can be used to improve students’ motivation, participative atmosphere and creativity in mastering the French grammatical structures.

ABSTRACT


The objective of the study is to analyze the correlation between students’ self regulated learning, students’ prior knowledge of mathematics (PAM) and an increase of their creative thinking abilities in problem-based learning. The correlation presumably occurs because the problem-based learning has been assumed to influence the students’ self regulated learning so that it may influence the improvement of students’ creative thinking abilities. And so does PAM. The population of the study was Junior High School students in the Bandar Lampung with a sample size of 78 people from two schools representing high and medium schools rank. Based on the analysis, it was concluded that there was a strong correlation between students’ self regulated learning and PAM in one side and the increase of students’ creative thinking abilities on the other side.

ABSTRACT

This is an experimental study, involving XIth graders at Senior High School in Bengkulu. The data in this study were collected from July through October 2009. The instruments used were a test of prior knowledge of mathematics and mathematical ability tests of creative thinking. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that in general, the students’ mathematical creative thinking ability who received inquiry learning was better than that of the students who received regular learning. Besides, learning model, the level of schools and students’ prior knowledge of mathematics significantly affected the students’ ability in mathematical creative thinking. Furthermore, there was an interaction between the level of schools and learning models towards students’ mathematical creative thinking ability; and finally, there was an interaction between student’s prior knowledge of mathematics and learning model toward mathematical creative thinking ability.

Latar Belakang

Sebagai lembaga pendidikan tinggi, perguruan tinggi memiliki peran sentral dalam pengembangan dan penyebarluasan ilmu pengetahuan. Oleh karena itu, publikasi ilmiah di lingkungan FKIP Universitas Lampung harus mendapat perhatian yang memadai, khususnya dalam penerbitan jurnal ilmiah.
Kualitas perguruan tinggi, selain diukur dari kualitas lulusannya juga diukur berdasarkan kualitas dan pengembangan, penyebaran, dan pemanfaatan ilmu pengetahuan. Jumlah karya ilmiah yang bermutu yang telah dihasilkan sebuah perguruan tinggi juga merupakan salah satu indikator kualitas perguruan tinggi.
Untuk mencapai hal itu, perlu dilakukan pembinaan terhadap publikasi penelitian dosen yang terencana, sistematis, dan berkelanjutan sehingga dapat meningkatkan jumlah jurnal ilmiah di lingkungan FKIP Universitas Lampung baik secara kualitas maupun secara kuantitas. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan-kegiatan yang dapat mendukung peningkatan dan pengembangan kualitas penelitian dosen perlu dilaksanakan secara berkesinambungan, di antraranya (i) mengikuti perkembangan terbaru dengan mengikuti seminar atau penataran loka karya nasional; (ii) menyosialisasikan hasil penelitian dosen di lingkungan FKIP Universitas lampung sehingga selalu dapat mempertahankan kualitas penelitiannya; (iii) meproyeksikan penelitian dosen di lingkungan FKIP menjadi jurnal yang terakreditasi nasional.
